One of our crossover students, Joy Barry, recently graduated from Ron King Academy! We’re always beaming with pride whenever one of our students gets to take everything they learned at Ron King Academy and put it into action in the real world. In just the first three weeks in the crossover program, Joy was able to get a job at the amazing Finley’s Barbershop here in Austin! Seeing students succeed is the most rewarding part of being at RKA.
Before coming to Ron King Academy, Joy used to work doing haircuts for men, but always wanted to better her skills. After hearing about RKA through a friend, she visited the school, talked to Tracy, and was hooked after finding out about the crossover program! With a love for cutting and styling men’s hair, this was the perfect program for her.
“Ever since I was little, I loved doing my dolls’ hair and my mom’s hair. As I grew up, I always wanted to make people look good. That’s what made me go to cosmetology school to get my license!”
When it comes to her favorite trends for men, she loves beards and pompadours, so be sure to see her at Finley’s if that’s a style you want to try! Aside from loving her job, she loves being on or around Lake Travis here in Austin.
