Average day after Basics:
Begins by showing up 10 minutes early (to ensure you beat the train on East Sunshine). Get coffee from the coffee bar, set up and greet fellow students who weren’t so lucky with the train (remind them that they can come early and make up the time tomorrow). Attend theory class and ace a test. Go get your mannequin, Suzi Q, to help you with your daily practical, as clients begin to sign in. Get a real client who has more personality than Suzi Q (and a tip, hopefully), go back to your assignment or take a break if it is time, attend a team meeting, a special class, or a demo. Check the time to see if it is time to go to lunch with your friend who works the 9-5 job down the street (you signed up for the 11:30 because that is the only time she can take lunch). Maybe she buys lunch since you are in school, maybe not, but one day soon you can buy hers and be doing what you love! Take an hour lunch or make up 30 minutes of clock time! Check in with the front desk to confirm what time Aunt Alma is coming in to claim her 50% off card you gave her this month! If not, turn in a student service pass and color your hair (again) or call Aunt Alma and tell her you would love for her to come see you and let you perm her hair instead of Suzi Q’s. Take a mock state board exam, do a few more clients as your turn comes up or your requests come in, update your facebook to remind your friends and family to make an appointment with you soon so you can keep your most request status! Go get a salon teammate to make sanitation interesting, making sure your absent teammate’s job is done so your team will qualify for the golden plunger. Call the absent teammate to remind him to get up early and make up that time he missed (mention the train), so he might still qualify for a 90% bling for his lanyard. I know it will be hard to peel yourself away because you want to continue learning and hanging out with the unique, creative people you are surrounded by, but you have to leave something for tomorrow!

Other things that might have gone on that day include:
Tie-dye a t-shirt; Watch a local stylist demonstrate hair extensions and share proverbs and words to live by. Learn ethnic hair and business techniques from a local barber, attend your salon reality meetings, Project Africa Team meeting, advanced color classes, eyelash extensions, nail design, special project team, work on your interview skills and your portfolio, finalize your plan for the next fashion show or competition (confirm your model), count your tips, practice new nail designs, shave a balloon or a real person (of course), attend a special facial class demonstration from a Sephora representative, review a Dave Ramsay class and work on your budget, take a mock board exam & determine what you need to work on, etc. (You get the idea, there is plenty to do and we make it FUN!)
